The Alvarez Family, a wildfire survivor from Malibu Canyon

Malibu Canyon

The Alvarez Family

The Alvarez family has owned their canyon property since 1961. Four generations grew up on it. In a single night the house, the workshop and the orchard were gone.

They spent the first year in a motel two hours from the children's school, then moved in with relatives.

Rebuilding in a canyon means new fire-hardening requirements: ember-resistant vents, non-combustible siding, defensible space work. Necessary, and expensive.

Your donation funds those upgrades so that when this family goes home, the home stands the next time.
