Rebuilding California is a donation campaign founded by Ed Koster to close the gap between what insurance pays and what it actually costs to finish a home.
Thirteen thousand homes were lost. Fewer than thirty have been rebuilt. Families are spread across motels, rentals and relatives' spare rooms, holding permits they cannot afford to act on.
We raise funds and route them into specific, verified rebuild projects. We do not hold money indefinitely — every dollar is assigned to a household and a construction phase, and every disbursement is reported publicly each quarter.
We are not a construction company. We partner with licensed local contractors, volunteer build crews and recovery coalitions already working in Pacific Palisades, Altadena and Malibu. They build; we fund the gap, coordinate case management and keep families moving through permitting.
A note on transparency: organizations named on this site are collaborators or groups we are in active conversation with. We do not display corporate logos as endorsements unless a formal partnership is signed.
